Allen Robinson is a professional American football player who currently plays as a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL).

Childhood and youth

Allen Robinson was born on August 24, 1993, in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in the city's Southfield neighborhood and attended Saint Mary's Preparatory, a Catholic high school in nearby Orchard Lake Village. Robinson was a standout athlete in high school, excelling in both football and basketball.

Robinson's love for football began at a young age. He played flag football as a child and later joined a youth football team in his neighborhood. Robinson was initially hesitant to play football because of his small size, but his father encouraged him to give it a try. He quickly found success on the field, using his speed and agility to make plays.

In high school, Robinson continued to develop his skills as a football player. He played both wide receiver and defensive back and helped lead his team to a state championship in his junior year. Robinson also played basketball in high school and was a key player on his school's varsity team.

Football career

Allen Robinson was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he set a franchise record for most receptions and receiving yards by a rookie, with 48 catches for 548 yards and two touchdowns. He continued to improve in his second season, recording 1,400 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, earning him his first Pro Bowl selection.

Unfortunately, Robinson suffered a season-ending ACL injury in the first game of the 2017 season. He became a free agent in the offseason and signed with the Chicago Bears in 2018. In his first season with the Bears, Robinson recorded 754 receiving yards and four touchdowns, despite dealing with injuries throughout the year.

In 2019, Robinson had a breakout season with the Bears, recording 1,147 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, earning his second Pro Bowl selection. He became the first Bears receiver to record over 1,000 receiving yards in a season since Alshon Jeffery in 2014. Robinson continued to be a reliable target for the Bears in 2020, recording 1,250 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

The Chicago Bears placed the franchise tag on Allen Robinson on March 9, 2021, and he signed the one-year tender on March 24. Despite being limited to 12 games, Robinson managed to make 38 receptions for 410 yards and scored one touchdown during the 2021 season.

Allen Robinson agreed to a three-year contract worth $46.5 million with the Los Angeles Rams on March 17, 2022. He played as a starting wide receiver for the team in the first 10 games of the season, where he made 33 receptions for 339 yards and scored three touchdowns. Unfortunately, Robinson suffered an injury and was placed on injured reserve on November 29, 2022, forcing him to end his season early.

Allen Robinson was traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Pittsburgh Steelers on April 21, 2023.
