    Josh Jacobs: biography

Joshua "Josh" Jacobs who was born on February 11, 1998 is an American professional football player. He started his professional career as a running back for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). Josh played college football for Alabama Crimson Tide.

    Childhood and youth

The NFL star hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he spent his childhood and teenage years. His parents' names are Marty and Lachelle. Josh's paternal grandmother is Filipino, and he wears the Philippine flag on his helmet to honor her. The running back also has a tattoo dedicated to his grandmother. Jacobs's parents divorced when he was eight, and he stayed with his father. The player didn't have an easy upbringing, and he and Marty were homeless when Josh was in middle school. After the running back became a football star, he bought his father a home. Jacobs' brother is a running back as well.

    Football career

Jacobs was part of the football team at McLain High School. Upon his graduation, he received offers from Missouri, Oklahoma, Purdue and Wyoming, but settled for Alabama. In his first year, Josh earned the MVP of the 2018 SEC Championship Game honors. During his second season in college, his stats with Alabama were 284 yards with one touchdown.

After entering the 2019 NFL Draft, the player was picked by the Las Vegas Raiders (then known as the Oakland Raiders). In July 2019, Jacobs and the team agreed to a standard rookie contract. In his NFL debut game, he totaled 113 yards and 2 touchdowns. The same year, Josh became the 1st in franchise history to rush for over a thousand yards, despite missing several games because of an injury.

Despite his good performance during the 2020–22 seasons, the Raiders decided not to extend the running back's rookie contract, which makes him a free agent. In November 2022, it was reported that the Buffalo Bills might be interested in acquiring the player.

In December, Jacobs was named the number one running back by the PFF website. He ranked above such RB players as Aaron Jones, Antonio Gibson and A.J. Dillon.

    Personal life

The NFL star is currently dating a woman named Joy Gentry. The couple has been together for six years and prefers to keep a low profile. Several news outlets reported that the Raiders star has several kids from different women, but he fiercely denied the rumors and threatened a lawsuit.

The player signed endorsement contracts with Kia, Nike, Tide and Snickers. As part of his philanthropy efforts, he is involved with non-profit organizations Positive Tomorrows and StandUp for Kids.

    Achievements and records

Jacobs is a one-time CPF National champion (2017). He was also named to the Pro Bowl in 2020 and 2022. The running back holds the Raiders’s franchise record for the most rushing yards as a newcomer.
