Childhood and youth

Bo Dean Nickal, also known as Bo Nickal, was born on January, 1996, in Rifle, Colorado in the family of college athletes Jason and Sandy Nickal. Later they moved to Wyoming and some time later they moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He grew up with three brothers and his parents, Tom and Gwen Nickal.

After some time Bo’s family moved again, that time to Texas. Bo Nickal attended Allen High School in Texas, where he was introduced to wrestling by his father. He started wrestling at the age of five and became a standout athlete in high school. During his senior year, Nickal won his fourth state title, earning him the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award. He was also named the 2014 National High School Coaches Association Senior Wrestler of the Year.

After high school, Nickal attended Pennsylvania State University, where he continued his wrestling career.
