Cody Ware is an American professional stock car racing driver who competed in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 51 Chevrolet for Rick Ware Racing.

Childhood and youth

Cody Ware was born on November 7, 1995, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Rick Ware and Lisa Ware. His father, Rick Ware, is a former NASCAR driver and the owner of Rick Ware Racing, a team that competes in various NASCAR series. Cody grew up in a racing family and was exposed to the sport from a young age. He began racing go-karts when he was just 8 years old and quickly showed a talent for the sport.

As a child and youth, Cody Ware was homeschooled by his mother, Lisa Ware, who also served as his primary educator. This allowed him to have a flexible schedule and focus on his racing career. He continued to race go-karts throughout his childhood and youth, winning numerous races and championships.

When he was 16 years old, Cody Ware began racing in the Late Model Stock Car division at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina. He quickly moved up to racing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and also began competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Despite his busy racing schedule, Cody Ware also found time to attend college. He studied business management at High Point University in North Carolina, where he was able to balance his racing career with his academic studies.

Sports car racing career

In addition to his stock car racing career, Cody Ware has also competed in sports car racing. He made his sports car racing debut in 2017, driving a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series. He and his co-driver, Bryce Miller, won their first race together at Watkins Glen International.

In 2018, Cody Ware continued to race in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series, but also made his debut in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, driving for the team of his father, Rick Ware Racing. He drove a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in the GT Daytona class, competing in several races throughout the season.

In 2019, Cody Ware returned to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, driving a Cadillac DPi-V.R for Juncos Racing in the Prototype class. He also continued to race in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series, finishing second in the championship standings with two wins and six podium finishes.

Cody Ware's sports car racing career continued in 2020, where he competed in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the European Le Mans Series. He drove for Rick Ware Racing in the WeatherTech Championship and for Inter Europol Competition in the ELMS. He also competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing 12th in the LMP2 class.

Cody Ware was arrested in April 2023 for a felony assault by strangulation and misdemeanor on a female]. Due to personal reasons, he was unable to participate in the Food City Dirt Race at Bristol and was replaced by Matt Crafton, who finished 34th with engine problems. As a result of the charges, NASCAR indefinitely suspended him on April 10. Ware's bail was set at $3,000 and he was bailed out later that same day.

Personal life

Cody Ware took to social media in February 2018 to share his struggles with depression and anxiety through a tweet. Later, in May of the same year, he disclosed on Facebook that he has Asperger's syndrome.

In addition to his racing career, Cody Ware is also a co-owner of Victory Lane Karting, a karting facility located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The facility features indoor go-kart racing and hosts events for corporate clients, parties, and other occasions.

Cody Ware is also involved in philanthropic work, and has supported various charitable causes throughout his career. He has participated in events to raise awareness and funds for organizations such as the American Cancer Society and Autism Speaks.
