Elijah Moore is an American football wide receiver who currently plays for the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Ole Miss and was selected by the Jets in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Childhood and youth

Elijah Moore was born on March 27, 2000, in Sunrise, Florida. He grew up in a football family, with his father and uncle both playing college football at the University of Miami. Moore attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, where he played football and ran track.

As a senior in high school, Moore had 39 receptions for 754 yards and six touchdowns, earning first-team All-County honors. He was a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 22 wide receiver in the nation by ESPN.

Moore went on to play college football at the University of Mississippi, where he quickly established himself as one of the top receivers in the SEC. In his freshman season, he caught 36 passes for 398 yards and two touchdowns, and followed that up with a strong sophomore campaign in which he had 67 receptions for 850 yards and six touchdowns.

Football career

Elijah Moore's professional football career began when he was selected by the New York Jets in the second round (34th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year rookie contract worth $8.9 million, including a $4.8 million signing bonus.

During the preseason, Moore showed flashes of his potential as a playmaker, catching four passes for 54 yards in his debut against the Giants. However, he suffered a quadriceps injury in Week 3 of the preseason that kept him out of action until the regular season opener.
