Pierce Brendan Brosnan was born in May 1953 in the port Irish town of Drogheda that is situated in 56 kilometers from Dublin. The childhood of future James Bond can't be called happy. His father, the carpenter in his specialty, left the family when Pierce wasn't even one year old. Pierce's mother at once went to London where she got a job at the hospital. Her son remained in the care of his grandmother and grandfather in the city of Navan: Brosnan considers this place to be his native town.

The Boarders were subjected to corporal punishments and were brought up in severity and asceticism.

His mother took her son away from the church school when he was 11 years old. At that time May Smith had already settled her private life and got married for the second time. Pierce had had cordial relations with his stepfather. The boy continued his studies at London school. At the age of 16, Brosnan became the student of the well-known educational institution - Saint Martin's School of Art, where he had been studying at the course of illustrators. There he had got a dream to connect his life with the world of cinematography. It happened after he had watched the movie "Goldfinger" in which Sean Connery played the role of "agent 007".
