James D'Arcy: biography

English actor James D'Arcy was born in an ordinary family in London on August 24, 1975. The boy lost his father when he was not even six years old, and then he had a tough time. James and his younger sister Charlotte were raised by their mother. The woman worked as a nurse, and there was not enough money in the family.

In 1984, James D'Arcy was admitted to a boarding school for children from low-income families because he showed high academic performance. The future actor studied for seven years there. Over the years of studying in the boarding school, he had to wear funny costumes often because schoolchildren wore the uniform of the 1500s, consisting of long blue coats, knee-breeches, and yellow socks. During his studies, James was fond of rugby and took part in school plays with pleasure. Nowadays, classmates remember him as a charming actor.

In 1991, D'Arcy graduated from a boarding school and went to Australia. There he worked in a drama department of the gymnasium in Perth for a year. From 1997 to 2000, there were no significant characters in the career of James D'Arcy. He played in the movies The Trench and Guest House Paradiso, appearing in mini-series.

The actor began to play prominent roles in 2001. These were the title characters in the mini-series and the role of Jake Martel in the movie Revelation. In 2002, he was invited to portray Sherlock Holmes in the film Sherlock: Case of Evil. One year later, James D'Arcy starred in the movie dot the i. The actor became famous after the role of Lieutenant Pullings in the movie Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, in which he starred with Russell Crowe.

The filmography of James D'Arcy has more than 20 roles. He starred in horror movies, detective stories, dramas. His characters include Father Francis in Exorcist: The Beginning, Duncan in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Jerry Burton in Agatha Christie's Marple: The Moving Finger, and others. One of James D'Arcy’s latest roles is King Edward VIII in the movie W.E., which became Madonna’s second directorial work.

Personal life

The actor does not make his private life public. It is only known that James has no wife or children. His close friends say that he does not seek wealth and fame because he is not so ambitious as other stars. James D'Arcy enjoys life and tries to help his mother and sister.
