XXXTentacion: biography

XXXTentacion is a young rapper from Florida whose popularity has taken off just in a few years. Without having full-fledged releases in his assets in 2016, the guy managed to conquer the hearts of the army of his fans with 3-4 compositions only.

In music, XXXTentacion didn't stick to one direction, and he wasn't a "pure" rapper – the vocalist followed his mood and felt free to combine hip-hop with R&B, alternative rock or heavy metal.

The rapper’s "hardcore" lifestyle considerably contributed to his popularity. His name regularly appeared in criminal chronicles. The last straw in the biography of XXXTentacion was his death which made people talk about the desperate and talented American even those who earlier had no interest in his creative work.

Childhood and youth

Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy was born at the beginning of 1998 in hot Florida situated at the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The future singer spent his childhood in the city of Pompano-Beach. The 100-thousand city has got its name in honor of the fish pompano, which was abundant in the local waters.

Jahseh’s parents didn't give due attention to their son’s education that’s why the boy grew without any restrictions and clear moral values. Since early youth, the Afro-American got into trouble until these situations became criminal.

Jahseh Dwayne left school, being a teenager: his teachers couldn't cope with this conflict and a cocky guy and applied for his leave. The management expelled the boy from the school.

Also, the atmosphere at home wasn't pleasant. The teenager found himself in the street where he got kicked out by his mother. The woman couldn't cope with her son, and there was no firm male hand and authority in the house: Onfroy Sr. got out of jail for a while and returned there for long months. Jahseh was living either at his grandmother’s or in the street.

He earned his living by theft, drug traffic, hijacking and weapon storage. For serious law violations, the future rapper was imprisoned in 2014 and got to the juvenile detention. Here the young man has quickly got settled, has found friends and his primary hobby in life – hip-hop.

Then Onfroy has invented himself a creative pseudonym – XXXTentacion. The prefix from three letters dropped a hint at the guy’s fancy for pornography (over time he has reduced it to X). The second part of his creative nickname means "temptation" in translation from Spanish.

His first composition appeared in the colony: it was the song under the title Vice City. Having got out of the penitentiary institution, XXXTentacion has recorded two mini-albums with the microphone, has processed them on the laptop and has published them online. Onfroy took his first steps in the music industry in the duet with the rapper Ski Mask with whom he had acquainted in the colony.

In 2015 Tentacion and Ski Mask delighted the hip-hop fans with the release of Members Only" band’s album which they have divided into two parts.

The musicians from $uicideBoy$ band noticed their talented and charismatic colleague. XXXTentacion agreed to the offer of the guys to become the special guest at their concerts within their American tour.

At the end of 2015, Tentacion pleased the fans with the track "Look At Me." This song has promptly become popular and has gained popularity on the web, has considerably increased the number of the singer's admirers.

In the summer of 2016 XXXTentacion again got behind the bars. That time he was imprisoned for the armed incursion into the house and the robbery. In four months the musician was released, but in autumn he again got to the prison for beating his pregnant girlfriend.

Many thousands of fans have done everything possible so that their favorite star could be released as soon as possible. The hashtag #FreeX gained popularity in the social networks.

In the spring of 2017 Jahseh was released on bail after half-a-year imprisonment. Having come out from behind bars, the musician felt himself on the peak of his glory. Rapper's stay in prison has increased his popularity. His admirers have appreciated the unusual style of performing – a mix of hardcore hip-hop with "the taste" of heavy metal.

The same year XXXTentacion released his three new mixtapes. In the mini-album under the title "Revenge," his fans heard their favorite hit "Looking For A Star."

In 2017 there came out joint albums with Members Only and Ski Mask. At the end of summer 2017, Onfroy released his first studio album "17" which included 11 tracks. The album was met warmly by the listeners, and it has taken the second line in Billboard 200 chart. The fans especially liked "Jocelyn Flores" song.

The composition "Riot" for which the rapper shot the video brought world fame to the musician. For the scene with the hung-up white child to the rapper received threats from the representatives of Ku Klux Klan. In autumn XXXTentacion changed his style: he dyed his hair grey and shaved his eyebrows.

In November the rapper was attacked by the musicians of "Migos" band, and in December Onfroy delighted his admirers with a Christmas mini-album. The same month the guy has again got behind the bars: the prosecutor of Florida doubted the testimonies of Onfroy’s girlfriend who refused her initial charges.

The musician was taken into custody without the right of release on bail before the final trial. The Meetings of the Court were postponed from January 2018 till March, and later till May and July.

During all this time Tentacion was working, and in the middle of March he released his second album under the title "?". It consisted of 18 tracks performed in different genres – from emo-rock to the Spanish pop music. The song "SAD! " have taken the 7th position in the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and the composition "Moonlight" delighted hundreds of thousands of music fans.

Personal life

Afro-American beauty Geneva was the rapper's girlfriend. Because of their passionate quarrels, the rapper got to the jail. His darling was a perfect match to Onfroy: Geneva betrayed Jahseh and used drugs for what she got in the neck from her low height boyfriend (the guy is 1,68 m only).

In the autumn of 2016, the jealous guy again beat Geneva, and she notified the police about the abuser. The case was aggravated by the fact that the girl claimed that she was pregnant. Jahseh not only raised his hand at her, but also he kept her hostage, without letting her call the police.

Sometime later, Geneva has forgiven her boyfriend, she has withdrawn her statements, but nobody believed her.

Death

The death has put the end in the rough biography of the rapper. When on the 18th of June, 2018, when XXXTentacion was released from the prison and came out from motor-salon in Miami and got in the car, two strangers ran up to him, and one of them grabbed his bag, and the second one fired a couple of bullets in Jahseh.

The musician died at the age of 20. He was found in the coma and was taken to the hospital where the doctors have confirmed the death. He died because of severe wounds from firearms.

The police didn't manage to discover who had shot the rapper without delay: Onfroy had enough enemies.

The police has disclosed some circumstances of the guy’s death and stated on Twitter that the suspects have escaped in the dark grey S.U.V. The investigators consider that the criminals have attacked the rapper for robbery.
