David Portnoy: biography

David Portnoy who was born on March 22, 1977 is an American social media celebrity, businessman and blogger. Also known as Dave Portnoy, he gained fame for the Barstool Sports blog website that he founded in 2003.

Childhood and youth

The blogger was born and raised in Swampscott, Massachusetts. He attended a local high school. After graduation, David enrolled at the University of Michigan, where he majored in education. His parents' names are Linda and Michael. The social media star rarely discusses his siblings, but in 2019 he revealed on Twitter that he has a sister.

Media career

David has always been passionate about sports and in 2003 he founded a sports newspaper Barstool Sports that he personally handed out on the streets of Boston. Most of the articles in the newspaper were written by Portnoy, but he occasionally published works by freelance writers. Four years later, Barstool Sports expanded to a website. It features videos, blogs and podcasts. The website currently receives over 50 million unique visitors monthly.

Portnoy also founded the internet show "One Bite with Davey Pageviews", where he reviews pizza parlors all around the world, trying to find the best pizza ever.

In July 2022, David and controversial former kickboxer Andrew Tate were featured in the BFFs podcast episode titled "ANDREW TATE AND DAVE PORTNOY GO TOE TO TOE".

The Barstool Sports founder is infamous for his controversial statements about women and people of color. In November 2022, the New York Times published a critical article about Portnoy, in which they accused him of misogynistic and racist behavior.

Politics

Portnoy identifies himself as a libertarian.

In 2013, he attempted to run for mayor of Boston, but his campaign was not successful as he wasn't able to gather enough signatures to qualify for the ballot.

In 2015, David made a blog post, in which he voiced his support for Donald Trump as a presidential candidate. However, later, he claimed that voting for conservative candidates was a grave mistake.

Personal life

In 2009, Portnoy married an equestrian named Renee Satterthwaite. The couple met shortly after they both graduated from college. They got divorced in 2017, because David had an affair with social media star Jordyn Hamilton a year earlier. Portnoy's ex-wife is now a social media celebrity.

Since 2021, the social media sensation has been dating a woman named Silvana Mojica. His girlfriend is originally from Columbia and works as a model.

In April 2021, Portnoy's sex tape was leaked online. His partner in the tape was social media celebrity Sydney Raines.

In August 2022, the blogger got into a Twitter feud with Blaze contributor and right-wing commentator Alex Stein.

From November 2021, at least six women have accused the famed blogger of sexual misconduct. He fiercely denied all the accusations and even sued the newspaper that published them. The lawsuit was dismissed.
