Early career

Daniel Ricciardo began his racing journey at the age of nine, participating in karting events as a member of the Tiger Kart Club. In 2005, he entered the Western Australian Formula Ford championship, finishing eighth by the end of the season. Ricciardo later took part in the national Formula Ford series but struggled due to his outdated car.

Moving on to the Formula Three Euro Series, Ricciardo made his debut in 2008 with SG Formula. Despite limited experience, he showcased his potential by qualifying eighth and finishing sixth in his first race. However, he faced difficulties in the reverse-grid race.

For the 2009 season, Ricciardo joined Carlin Motorsport in the British Formula 3 Championship. He also competed in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix with the team.

In 2010, Ricciardo signed with Tech 1 to compete in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series. He started the season strongly, securing pole positions and podium finishes. Ricciardo achieved his first win at Monte Carlo and went on to win two more races at the Hungaroring and Hockenheimring.

In 2012, Ricciardo joined Toro Rosso alongside Jean-Éric Vergne. He earned his first two World Championship points by overtaking Vergne in the final lap of the Australian Grand Prix.
