Tamron Hall is an American TV host and journalist who became the first African American woman that hosted The Today Show. Childhood and youth

Tamron Hall was born in Texas in 1970. Her parents are Mary Newton and Clarence Newton Sr. Actually, Clarence is her step-dad, who she really loves. She once said in the interview:

“I was born to a different father, but God brought in my stepfather who should be my dad.”

Clarence had spent a big part of his life in the military, and he is the one who taught Tamron to be disciplined and countenanced her will to become a journalist.

Tamron also had an older sister, Renate, who passed away in the 2004 year. She was found beaten to death in the small pool at her house after a line of abusive relationships. That affected Hall’s family really hard. This terrible murder became the main reason why Tamron started her activity in fighting against domestic abuse.

    Journalism and TV career

Tamron studied at Temple University and got the bachelor degree in Broadcast Journalism here. Her career started in 1997 at the WFLD-TV, a channel in Chicago owned by Fox. She worked as a host of Fox News in the Morning and as a reporter.

After that, in 2007 she joined the national news network MSNBC and NBC News, where she worked for the next ten years. She first achieved her reputation as a replacement for Keith Olbermann on the “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” program.

In 2014 Tamron became a co-host of The Today Show together with Natalie Morales, Al Roker, and Willie Geist. Hall was the first African American female that co-anchored this program. When she was signing this contract, she was wearing Lena Home’s jacket which was bought at her estate liquidation. Lena, who was civil and political rights activist, has always been an enormous inspiration for Tamron.

Leaving NBC and MSNBC in the 2017 year because of losing her 9 a.m. time slot to another host, Tamron announced that there would be a daytime talk show with her as a host. NBC offered Hall the bigger salary, but she decided to leave anyway. She signed the contract about her new job with Disney–ABC Domestic Television, and the premiere will be on September 9, 2019. The goal of Tamron’s talk show is to bring her vision of various things to others; she plans to discuss every significant and actual topic in her program. Hall's show will be broadcasted, at least, on eight stations: WABC New York, KABC Los Angeles, WLS Chicago, WPVI Philadelphia, KGO San Francisco, KTRK Houston, WTVD Raleigh-Durham, N. C. and KFSN Fresno, Calif. The executive producer of the show is Bill Geddie, who had a lot of experience in the television industry. Fans didn’t know at all about Hall having a husband or children; the couple has been married in secret the whole time, and the details of the wedding are still unknown. Tamron announced this happy news through the social network, on Instagram and Facebook. On her photos, we can also see a massive wedding ring.

In 2004 there was a disaster for Hall’s family: her sister, Renate, was found in her house dead due to domestic violence. The murderer has never been brought to justice; there was not enough evidence. In the interview at the Television Critics Association, Tamron shared her feelings. She described the horrible day of Renate’s death, the signals of abuse that she had noticed sometimes. Hall also blames herself for her sister’s death, because she didn’t do anything to help.

By Today's "Shine A Light" campaign, Tamron battles against home abuse. This campaign supports people with issues of homelessness, hunger, and violence. Hall really wants to establish the public service announcement for schools and other foundations for spreading perception of abusive (both emotionally and physically) relationships among the teenagers. She helps Day One New York, Inc., and for the present moment, they have more than $40 Thousand.

    Awards and nominations
