Childhood and youth

Gavin Newsom was born on October 10, 1967, in San Francisco, California. He grew up in the city's Bay Area and had a relatively privileged childhood. Newsom's father, William Newsom, was a state appeals court judge, and his mother, Tessa Menzies, worked as a housewife. He has an older sister named Hilary.
