Hilarie Burton: biography

Hilarie Ros Burton Morgan is an American actress who gained recognition when she started starring as Peyton Sawyer in the series One Tree Hill (2003–2009). She is also famous for her parts in various movies, including Normal Adolescent Behavior (2007) and Bloodworth (2010). Burton was also included in Maxim's Hot 100 List of 2007 and Femme Fatales' The 50 Sexiest Women of 2005.

Childhood and youth

Hilarie Burton was born in Virginia in 1982. Her family consists of her, a father, who is a veteran of the US Army, a mother who works as a real estate agent, and three brothers. In 2000, Hilarie finished her education at Park View High School, where she was one of the most active children. She held various positions, including student council president and captain of the cheerleading squad. Later Burton attended Fordham University and New York University.

Movie career

At the beginning of her career, Burton worked on MTV's Total Request Live, and after this, she presented MTV Video Music Awards in 2000. Her television debut was the appearance on the drama series Dawson's Creek in 2002.

Next year, the actress began starring in the series One Tree Hill as Peyton Sawyer, a cheerleader with curly hair. This role turned out to be Burton's breakout one, and it got her three nominations for the Teen Choice Award. In 2006, Hilarie appeared on the cover of the magazine Maxim together with her colleague Sophia Bush. In 2009, it was announced that Burton would not star in the show anymore due to her personal decision. By the way, in the One Tree Hill also appeared Pete Wentz, a member of the music band Fall Out Boy.

In 2005, Hilarie had her first role in the film Our Very Own, and two years later, she starred in the drama Normal Adolescent Behavior. Both projects were about teenagers’ life. Also, in 2007, the actress launched her own production company named Southern Gothic Production.

In 2012, Burton appeared in the series Castle, and next year, she starred as Dr. Lauren Boswell in the ninth season of Grey's Anatomy and as Samantha in the Hostages. In 2015, Hilarie had a role in the drama Extant where she worked with her One Tree Hill co-star Tyler Hilton. One of Burton’s recent works is the TV movie A Christmas Wish, where she stars together with Tyler Hilton and his wife, Megan Park.

Personal life

Speaking about Burton’s love life, she is very happy in marriage and has two kids. Before her current relationship, she had her first husband, Ian Prange, who worked as the assistant director of the One Tree Hill. They were together in 2005–2009.

In 2009, she started dating Jeffrey Dean Morgan, also an actor. Next year, their first child, Augustus, was born. In 2018, Hilarie gave birth to the daughter and named her George Virginia. Just a few days ago, Burton posted on her Instagram page the happy news about her and Jeffrey being married! The wedding was private, and only the closest friends were invited.

In autumn 2017, after the scandal with Harvey Weinstein, who was charged with sexual abuse, Burton recalled how Ben Affleck touched her breast in 2003 during some interviews. As response, Affleck sincerely apologized to the actress on Twitter and then on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Ben also reminded all men that they need to be mindful of their behavior. Also, in 2017, Hilarie alleged that she was one of the female crew that was sexually harassed by Mark Schwahn, the creator of One Tree Hill.
