Noah Wyle: biography

One can only admire the ambitiousness and dedication of this Hollywood actor. Noah Wyle became famous for his role in the popular TV series ER and managed to survive in the project 11 seasons, putting a kind of TV record. And although his film career then went up, his main projects still are works on the television screen.

Childhood and youth

Noah Strausser Speer Wyle was born on June 4, 1971, in Hollywood, California. His father, Stephen Wyle, an electrical engineer, according to some sources, has Russian-Jewish roots. Marjorie Speer, Noah's mother, works as an orthopedic nurse.

The boy's paternal grandparents belonged to the arts and sciences. Edith Wyle was an expressionist painter, and Frank Wyle was the founder of the Wyle Laboratory, serving NASA units. Together they created the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles.

Noah is the middle of the couple's three children. And after another marriage of his mother (Marjorie and Stephen got divorced in the late 70's), aside from beloved brothers and sisters, he became a step-brother for three children of James C. Katz, his step-father.

Young Wyle went to The Thacher School in Ojai and graduated in 1989. He then took a course in theater at Northwestern University. While still a student, he began to write plays and even received awards for his work.

The received education turned out to be insufficient for Noah, and he continued his studies privately, taking acting classes from Larry Moss and at the same time looking for his first roles. He went to numerous auditions, and it seemed as though he had contacted every agency in California, and there are a lot of them there.

Movies

The first roles of Noah Wyle were insignificant. In 1990-1991, he starred in the films Blind Faith, Crooked Hearts, A Few Good Men. The latter was nominated for an Oscar and was a success at the box office, so Wyle was noticed and in 1994 was invited to the new series called ER. NBC launched the project about the everyday work of the district hospital of Chicago.

Wyle was offered the role of medical student John Carter. The Californian became the youngest member of the cast. He got so deep into the role of his beloved character that his acting had been repeatedly nominated for such television awards as Emmy, and Golden Globe. And in 1996-1999, he received the Best Cast of a Drama Series Award from the Actors Guild.

For 12 years of continuous work on the set of ER, the actor starred in more than two dozen films and TV series. In 1994, he was noted for his work in the comedy There Goes My Baby, and in 1995 he played in an episode of the cult series Friends.

In 1999, the director Martin Burke invited Noah to play in his movie Pirates of Silicon Valley about the history of the Microsoft company and the appearance of the first personal computer. Wyle played one of the leading roles — Apple founder Steve Jobs.

Two years later in filmography actor appears the first cash film, Donnie Darko with Jake Gyllenhaal in the title role. Wyle plays the supporting role of Prof. Kenneth Monnitoff.

The leading roles in the film were played by Jennifer Lopez (Slim) and Bill Campbell (Mitch). Mitch, a former policeman, and now a wealthy contractor, after the wedding, becomes a tyrant. Slim, tired of being beaten up, runs away from him, but she will have to stand up for herself, meeting Mitch one-on-one. Noah plays Mitch's friend Robbie, who helps track down his wife.

In 2004 in the creative biography of Noah appeared a project The Librarian: Quest for the Spear, where he got the central role. Wyle's character is Flynn Carsen, who loves to learn so much that he already has 22 higher educations. But one day he gets expelled from the University, and the need to look for work leads him to the library, where Flynn gets a dangerous and exciting position of the bookkeeper.

Until 2008, the actor starred in three parts of the TV project, which turned out to be very successful and popular. For the second time after playing Steve Jobs in Pirates of Silicon Valley, Wyle played a real historical character – Donald Evans, the 34th U.S. Secretary of Commerce and a close friend of the President.

In 2011-2015, the list of the highest-rated fantasy series included the project Falling Skies. Noah Wyle played the main character of the plot- history teacher Tom Mason, who took on a vital mission to save the Earth from the alien spider invaders. For this role, the actor was nominated for a Saturn Award.

A significant role in a feature film marked 2017 for Noah. Wyle played sound engineer Mark Newman in Jeremy Kagan's independent drama. Mark is accidentally wounded by a stray bullet fired from a gun by a teenager. Pain and resentment give rise to a desire for revenge.

In 2018, Noah Wyle paid tribute to his Russian roots and played in the series The Romanoffs, which tells the story of people living in different parts of the world who call themselves the descendants of the royal family.

Personal life

The actor does not make a secret of his personal life. At first, he married makeup artist Tracy Warbin. The couple lived together for nine years and became the parents of two children – son Owen Strausser Speer Wyle (2002) and daughter Auden Wyle (2005). The couple officially divorced in 2010.

The second wife of the actor was actress Sara Wells, who is younger than him by eight years. In this marriage, Noah raises daughter Frances Harper Wyle (2015).

In his spare time, the man likes to play basketball (the actor is 6 feet tall), he is also fond of photography, loves animals and is a member of the fund for the protection of wildlife. In an interview, the celebrity urges his fans to protect the planet.
