Justin Hartley: biography

The Knoxville native, Justin Hartley, started his acting career in the early 2000s. Since then, Scott's credits have included several TV shows like Passions, Smallville, Emily Owens, M.D., plus starring roles on This Is Us and Jexi. Justin was married twice and has a daughter. As of December 2019, he was in the process of divorce. Scott’s net worth can reach $7 million, including all of his properties and earnings.

Childhood and youth

The birthplace of Justin was a small city, Knoxville, Knox County. He became the second child for Mark and Jackie and appeared on January 29, 1977, two years later, after his brother Nathan. In 1980 Justin’s parents welcomed first daughter, Megan. Several years later, Mark and Jackie divorced, and Justin stayed in an incomplete family. Soon she married again, and in 1990 she gave birth to Justin’s third sibling, Gabriella.

The children grew up in Orland Park, where he attended public four-year high school, CSHS. Hartley had a love for bringing characters to life at an early age and began to take acting seriously once he got to college. So, he continued his education at Southern Illinois University (SIU) and UIC, graduating it with a degree in theater and history. Upon graduation, he decided to make a move to Los Angeles, packing up his truck with no money or a job, to give the entertainment industry a shot.

Movie career

The career’s beginning

Hartley began his daytime career in 2002 on the supernatural NBC soap Passions and held the role of Fox Crane until 2006. In October 2005, Hartley announced that he would exit the show when his contract expired in February 2006. The actor delivered the news during the Passions' annual fan club event. Hartley told fans gathered at the show's annual fan club weekend that he needed to get that out. He was leaving the show, and all he wanted to do was thank fans for all their support. Justin met his wife and welcomed a kid on the show.

Then Justin played a young Green Arrow on Smallville for 72 episodes. Moreover, he became the director of two episodes, “Dominion” and “Sacrifice.” Also, he portrayed Arthur Curry in The CW’s Aquaman unaired pilot episode. The actor also appeared in primetime on Revenge and joined ABC’s summer soap opera Mistresses in a potentially kinky recurring role. Hartley played Scott, a new love interest for Jes Macallan’s Joss.

After that, Hartley booked a role on ABC’s comedy pilot Damaged Goods, from Awkward creator Lauren Iungerich. He portrayed the role of smart and egotistical attorney beaten out for a promotion by his girlfriend. The comedy revolved around two damaged men (Hartley, Steve Talley) and two damaged women who explored the minutiae of love and relationships.

Hartley’s smart and egoistic Tim was hit hard when his girlfriend and law firm colleague got the promotion he expected to get. Childish and unable to applaud her accomplishments or be with a woman who outranked him, the relationship seemed all but over — unless she resigned. He was repped by Innovative.

The other big project of Justin was playing Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless. In 2016, he was set to play in This Is Us, an American comedy-drama TV series with tragic elements created by Dan Fogelman. It premiered on NBC on September 20, 2016. Hartley played Kevin Pearson, Jack and Rebecca's son, and Kate and Randall's brother. Also, the character was played by Logan Shroyer (ages 16–17) and Parker Bates (ages 9–12). The role of Kevin Pearson brought a second Screen Actors Guild award to Hartley for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

In 2017, the actor appeared in A Bad Moms Christmas. His character met Kathryn Hahn's Carla at the wax parlor, where she was charged with “waxing his business.” Thus, the Santa stripping ordeal was not the only time we saw Hartley sans most of his clothes in the movie. By the time the viewers got to the stripping scene, he and Carla visited their first date, where he had to strip in front of a lot of the ladies who appeared in the movie, including Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell.

In February 2019, it became known that Ben Affleck wouldn’t play the role of Batman in Matt Reeves’ highly-anticipated movie. That’s why fans began calling more and more actors’ names, who could replace the actor. One of them was Justin Hartley.

Personal life

Hartley looks after his style and looks amazing. In the interview with GQ, the actor said that on the show, he had to keep consistent facial hair and hair on his head for long periods. For him, a beard trimmer worked. He advised men to set it to the same length each time, and they could do that every day and not have to worry too much.

The first wife of Hartley was his Passions’ partner Lindsay Korman. The couple tied the knot in May 2004, three months before they welcomed their daughter. However, Justin and Lindsay divorced after eight years of family life. In October 2017, Justin tied the knot with Chrishell Hartley after dating for four years. The couple married in an intimate ceremony at Malibu’s Calamigos Ranch.

However, Hartley’s second marriage was also unsuccessful. In 2019 the pair started the process of divorce and met the difficulties in December. According to court documents, Justin listed the date of separation as July 8, 2019, meanwhile his wife marked November 22, 2019. Despite that, the two visited the Emmy Awards together in September, the Veuve Clicquot Polo Match in October, and a Hollywood Reporter-sponsored pre-Golden Globes party in November. The photos appeared on Instagram.

The news reported that Chrishell was ready to settle down and to be a wife and stay-at-home mom and hoped to give birth to kids. Justin didn’t plan to do those shortly, throwing all his strength to pursue his career. On December 5, 2019, Chrishell was spotted moving out of the couple's home. Meanwhile, the actor was spotted participating in a photoshoot in Los Angeles without his wedding ring.
