Tim McGraw is one of the most influencing American country singers, song-writers and actors. From the beginning of his musical career, Tim has released 14 studio albums and 10 of them have reached the Top Country Albums chart. Childhood and youth

Tim McGraw's birthday is May 1, 1967. He was born in Delhi, Louisiana, to the family of a popular baseball pitcher Frank Edwin McGraw Jr. and Elizabeth Ann. Tim's dad played in the minor leagues for several teams, while his mom was a waitress in a local restaurant. Tim was the only kid in the family.

Shortly after Tim's birth, Frank and Elizabeth parted ways, and the latter found a partner - Horace Smith. Till the age of 11, Tim McGraw didn’t know who was his biological father. Later he discovered a certificate upon which he confronted his mother, and hence, he became aware of his real father's identity. Initially, his real dad didn't recognize his fatherhood. Once, when Tim was 18, the two met and became surprisingly close.

As a high school student, Tim McGraw was interested in basketball. When he was 18, he entered Northeast Louisiana University. There he got admission on a baseball scholarship. However, the boy got injured and had to give up his dream of becoming a professional basketball player. As a result, Tim found a new passion – music.

Later he enrolled at Florida Community College where got acquainted with music bands. Tim McGraw learned to play guitar and succeeded in it. He had an idol - Keith Whitley.

Tim dropped out of college and left for Nashville to build music career.

At the beginning of the 1990s, Tim started his struggling period and made several demo-tapes. He got acquainted with Curb Records through his parents and succeeded to sign a deal with the company. 1991 brought Tim his first song named 'What Room was the Holiday In.' Unfortunately, the track was not of enormous success and failed to get to the country music charts.

The single was the leading one from his self-titled debut album which also failed. Musing upon his failures, McGraw decided to work hard on his second collection released in 1994. 'Not a Moment Too Soon' was an instant success. Its first song 'Indian Outlaw' became a real hit. It received positive reviews for its originality and essence but also was criticized for patronizing Red Indians.

The collection's second song 'Don't Take the Girl' advanced to the No. 1 on many charts. Its sells' level was evaluated at 6 million copies; the collection reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Besides, it brought the musician Album of the Year Award at the Academy Country Music Awards and the Top New Male Vocalist Award in 1994.

1995 was marked by Tim McGraw's third album 'All I Want' – another musician's successful project. It finished 6th in the Billboard 200. Its most popular song is 'I Like It, I Love It.' Totally, McGraw sold 2 million copies of the collection. The next year, he arranged a nationwide tour as a support of his album, and it was later named the most successful country tour of the year.

The next McGraw's album was called 'Everywhere' – it helped him get even more fame. In 2000, the musician released Grammy-winning song 'Let's Make Love.' The next year, he pleased his fans by a new collection 'Set This Circus Down' which included four singles.

The following McGraw's albums 'Like You Were Dying' and 'Let It Go' also brought the singer many awards and recognition. Shortly after he started working on the collection titled 'Emotional Traffic.' The tracks from the album titled 'Felt Good on My Lips' and 'Better than I Used to Be' were released before the entire collection and ended up becoming chart-topping successes.

In 2013 Tim published 'Two Lanes to Freedom,' in 2014 - 'Sundown Heaven Town.' Both collections advanced to the top of the US country chart. In 2015 fans could listen to Tim McGraw's new song from his latest album 'Damn Country Music,' titled 'Top of the World.' The second single from the album titled 'Humble and Kind' ended up becoming another chart-topping success and collected many awards.

In 2017 Tim McGraw released 'The Rest of Our Life' – the collaboration with his wife, Faith Hill. The duet’s collection finished 2nd on the Billboard 200 chart.

In 2019 McGraw embarked on a tour. His recent performance took place in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

McGraw has worked as a record producer in collaboration with Byron Gallimore, who has co-produced all of his albums. The colleagues also produced the collection by The Clark Family Experience in 2000, and Halfway to Hazard's 2007 self-titled debut album.

Acting career

1997 is a beginning of Tim McGraw's career – he first appeared on stage in an episode of The Jeff Foxworthy Show, where he played Foxworthy's rival.

In 2004, he had the role of a sheriff in Ricky Schroder's independent release Black Cloud.

In 2006 McGraw played his first lead role in the 2006 movie Flicka. So, the celebrity acted as the father, Rob. His colleagues were Alison Lohman and Maria Bello.

That time Tim McGraw received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His star is located at 6901 Hollywood Boulevard near stars honoring Julie Andrews, William Shatner, and the late Greta Garbo.

Tim McGraw met the country singer Faith Hill in the 1990s. The two started dating and tied the knot 1996. The spouses have three children – three daughters.

In 2006, Tim stated in an interview that he is a Democrat and that he would love to contest an election for the Democratic Party.

Charity

In 1994 Tim McGraw started organizing the annual Swampstock event. Initially, it was a charity softball game aimed to raise money for hometown little league programs; the event now includes a celebrity softball game and a multi-artist concert that attracts over 11,000 fans per year.

In 1996 McGraw began hosting an annual New Year's Eve concert in Nashville with special guests including Jeff Foxworthy, the Dixie Chicks, and Martina McBride.

In 2007 the celebrity donated $5,000 to Kailey Kozminski, the 3-year-old daughter of Officer Robert Kozminski, a Grand Rapids police officer who was killed while responding to a domestic disturbance.
